Sundays, Children Worship
All children are always welcome for all of worship. They lead us in worship. They are welcome to be themselves and make blessed children’s noises, all during worship.
On the way in, Children get a bulletin too, so they can follow along, or a few books from the children’s shelf. We invite infants to 5th graders to gather mid-worship for a special conversation. We usually give these children a special craft and invite them to tables near the front right. Or, they can go back to their seats.
If parents and children want to enjoy a more family friendly space to wiggle, color on the floor, and have additional support from youth and adults—try our special children’s area at the front right wing of the sanctuary. There’s a table just their size, and a row of chairs for supervising parents.
At the parents’ option, for infants to pre-K, there is also childcare available during the entire service, or after the Children’s sermon. Kindergarteners are invited to worship with their parents until the Children’s sermon, and then, if children and their parents would like, kindergarteners can stay in worship or head to the pre-K class for the remainder of worship.
Sunday AM, “Service Central”
On Sunday mornings, children ages infant-grade 5 gather for Service Central at 9:30. Service Central is our version of Sunday School, where kids will learn a bible story and then put that story into action by working on a service project that directly benefits our community. You will see a world map hanging in the hall that shows some of the service projects our kids have helped with, and where their time and talent were shared.
Wednesday PM, J.A.M. Club
Children in grades K-5 have JAM Club (Jesus And Me) on Wednesday nights from 5:45-7:00 during the school year. This includes dinner, games, and bible story. You can find JAM club downstairs, just past the nursery. Kids ages 0-PreK are welcome to stay with our nursery staff in the Nursery and PreK classrooms, and they will also have dinner, Bible story, music, and play time.
From our Director of Children’s Ministries
“I believe each experience of Christian education is a response to God’s love first given to us (1 John 4:19). Out of gratitude for this good news, we too can extend such love and grace to others, and especially to our children by building relationships, growing in faith, and having fun together!”
Rev. Christin Norman
Director since October 2018
