We have a number of small groups at OPC that are devoted to study and discussion of scripture, theology, and social issues.
Pub Theology meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month to enjoy craft brews and discuss theology and its application in today’s world. The group is currently discussing Christian Doctrine by Shirley C. Guthrie, Jr. For more information, contact John Gregg, 706-769-1001 or email@example.com. Newcomers are welcome! Bible Times is the longest-running small group at Oconee Presbyterian, gathering on Monday mornings to study scripture and theology. The group is currently studying Isaiah and several of the other prophets. Find the next Bible Times meeting.
During the school year, there are several opportunities for study and discussion on Sunday mornings. These groups are usually (but not always!) based on the study of a book that highlights either spiritual or social concerns. Past offerings include “Finding Bethlehem in the Midst of Bedlam” during Advent; “Half Truths: God Helps Those Who Help Themselves and Other Things the Bible Doesn’t Say” during Lent; and “From One God to Three Religions,” a study of the three major Abrahamic faiths. New groups will be forming in the fall; check back here for more information!
