Take a few minutes to think about who and why you are. No doubt part of what makes you you is because of decisions you’ve made: what you eat, whether you exercise, the education and training you’ve pursued, how much time and effort you’ve put into your job and family… But there’s also the basics that allowed it all to happen: the miraculous complexity and innate ability of your body and mind; the family and environment and friends and strangers that touched and formed you in some way; being born in this country at this time in history – all priceless “gifts” you received, from God, through His grace. And because we’ve all received different gifts, God has asked us to share them with one another to make the “family” stronger – similar to how all the different parts of our physical body must work together for it to function properly.
It is important to realize, however, that these gifts are meant not for the glorification of the recipient, but for the common good and to help us fulfill our mission to Invite In all people to discover God’s love in Christ, to Build Up one another in the spirit, and to Send Out disciples to share God’s love in the world.
As you look through the OPC Ministries, we are sure you will be impressed with our many activities. So many of you are already using your gifts and sharing them with the larger community.
Please take time to prayerfully reflect on how you have been gifted by God and how you can become a more effective disciple of His by sharing the gifts He has given to you. If you feel called to a ministry (or have a special talent not listed), please contact the Pastor or an Elder – where God is calling, we will follow.
We are grateful to the many members whose faith and love of the Lord makes the ministries and missions possible. Through His people God is doing amazing things at and through OPC. Praise God!
"...Good stewards of God's manifold grace, serving one another with our gifts."
